Google Docs is adding new ways to customize the table of contents. This gives users more control over how their document's navigation and structure look. The new feature in the Insert → Table of contents menu helps users customize their content. You can pick from layout styles like plain text, dotted lines, or hyperlink-only formats.

You can also toggle page numbers and choose which heading levels to display. This makes longer documents easier to navigate and look better. You can click on the table of contents to refresh it as your document changes.

Also, open the “More options” sidebar to adjust formatting, indentation, and visibility settings. This upgrade is excellent for writers, students, and professionals. It helps them create clear outlines for reports, theses, and team projects.
