  • About Me “Indian Mutiny Medal Rolls” delves into the historical accounts and service records of the 2nd Dragoon Guards (Queens Bays) during 1856-1859. The book provides insights into the regiment’s alterations in uniform, their challenging journey to India, and their significant contributions during the Indian Mutiny. It highlights key actions and engagements, including brave charges and intense battles. This meticulously researched volume commemorates the soldiers’ valiant efforts, offering a comprehensive record of their service and the awards earned during this tumultuous period.
On the 25th of July, 1857, the 2nd Dragoon Guards embarked on a challenging four-month voyage to Calcutta, enduring harsh conditions and half-rations on the troopship.
In the midst of the Indian Mutiny, the Queens Bays displayed remarkable courage during a spirited charge near Lucknow, capturing an elephant and inflicting heavy casualties on the enemy.
Lieutenant Robert Blair, an officer of the Queens Bays, earned the coveted Victoria Cross for his bravery while serving with the 9th Lancers before the capture of Delhi.
